What Remains.
A Wildfires Homage Collection

Every summer, wildfires strike Portugal, Spain, and much of Southern Europe with force.
They are not a coincidence: most are man-made, leaving behind thousands of devastated hectares, communities in suspense, and
landscapes scarred for years.

In September 2024, we experienced it firsthand.

Our co-founder and head of design, Mike, was in Portugal presenting the FW25 collections to our long-time factories. What should have been a normal work trip turned into something else: smoke, heat, sirens… and at the same time calm, resilience, and mutual support with the people who make our garments possible.

From that experience came what we then called Portugal Fires, because it was the reality we were living at that moment. But seeing that, unfortunately, the same reality has repeated this summer in Spain and many other parts of Southern Europe, we felt it needed a broader name.

Today the collection is called What Remains. A Wildfires Homage Collection.
Because it is not only about Portugal, but about a problem that strikes us all every year. It is a call for awareness, but also a

Homage to what remains after the fire.

Each garment carries the name of areas affected by those fires: Pontido, Fafe, Estoraos, or Aroes.
The colors, dyed with pigments, are inspired by the vegetation that always finds its way back:
Chestnut, Oak Green, Eucalyptus, Silver Green, Forest Green.
Deep tones and muted greens that speak of strength and calm at the same time.

The collection was meant to be released fifteen days ago, but it coincided with one of the worst wildfire summers Spain has ever seen.
It wasn’t the right time.
We decided to stop, pause, and give space for reflection.
Today we believe it is, because we don’t want to talk about fashion without context.
We want to talk about commitment.

At Trendsplant we believe fashion must have a purpose. We are B Corp and part of 1% for the Planet, and 1% of our sales goes to environmental projects. With What Remains we want to take it a step further:

The proceeds will go to associations that support people and communities affected by wildfires.

Our environment, just like that of our Portuguese neighbors, is priceless.
Sometimes we only remember it when we lose it.
Nature is a gift. Let’s not take it for granted.

The pigment-dyed range reflects that contrast between devastation and resilience:
Chestnut, Oak Green: deep, dry tones, like soil and wood after the fire.
Eucalyptus, Silver Green, Forest Green: muted greens, like what survives or begins anew.
The pigment dye finish reinforces that bond with the earth: vivid, irregular textures, marked by time.

Portugal Fires is not a collection about the fire.
It is a collection about what remains.
And about the people with whom we build it.
