What Remains. A Wildfires Homage Collection: born in the midst of the wildfires, redefined for a recurring reality

In September 2024, part of the Trendsplant team traveled to northern Portugal to present the FW25 collections to our partner factories. What began as a work trip turned into something no one could have predicted. For five days, wildfires swept through more than 15,000 hectares in the region, surrounding us as we worked. Smoke, heat, sirens, and a constant tension became part of our daily reality.
From that experience came what we first called Portugal Fires, because it was the reality we were living at the time. But seeing that, unfortunately, this same situation has repeated itself this summer in Spain and across southern Europe, we felt the collection needed a broader name.
Today, it is called What Remains. A Wildfires Homage Collection. Because this story is not only about Portugal, it’s about a problem that affects us all, year after year. It is not a collection about fire, but about what remains after it.

Each garment carries the name of areas directly affected by those wildfires: Pontido, Fafe, Estoraos, and Aroes. The pigment-dyed palette is inspired by vegetation that always finds a way back: Chestnut, Oak Green, Eucalyptus, Silver Green, Forest Green. Deep earthy tones and muted greens that express both the strength of what endures and the calm of what returns. The pigment dye technique adds irregular textures and unique shades, making each piece different, like the stories that inspired them.

This collection is also a way to reaffirm our commitment to sustainability. At Trendsplant, we are a B Corp and part of 1% for the Planet, dedicating 1% of sales from What Remains to associations supporting people and communities affected by wildfires.
What Remains. A Wildfires Homage Collection is a tribute to people, to the land, and to resilience. A reminder that even in the midst of adversity, it is possible to create something meaningful that will endure.
